Devas and brahmas requested for coming of Buddha

When devas and brahmas came to know of the news of the coming of the Buddha, they went to the palace of the future Buddha, the deva Setaketu, and said, “Please go to the human world to become a Buddha.” Setaketu considered whether the time was appropriate for him to become a Buddha, and then gave a promise to the devas and brahmas. “All right, I will descend to the human world,” he said.
