The future Buddha was born

Ten months later, Queen Maha Maya wanted to go to the Kingdom of Devadaha to visit her parents. So she set out for her home country, riding on a golden palanquin with her large retinue.

On the way, she rested at the garden of golden Ingyin flowers. While she was plucking the flowers, the future Buddha was born to her, without even the slightest pain.

The moment he was out of his mother’s womb, the infant prince walked seven steps and stopped to proclaim, “In all the world I am the noblest.”

His was born on a Friday, full moon day of the month of Kason, in the year 68 of the Great Era.
