Five days after his birth, the infant prince was brought in for the eight royal Brahmins, invited by the King, to examine the signs on his body.
Seven of them put up two fingers and said, “ The royal infant will become either the king of the universe or the Buddha.”
The eighth, and youngest of the Brahmins, named Sudatta, said firmly, “The prince will most certainly become the Buddha.”
