After gaining the Sabbunuta wisdom, the buddha went to the Migaduvan forest near Varanasi City. In that forest were Konndinya, Vappa, Baddiya Maha Nam and Assijji, the five hermits who had been seeking the truth even before the Buddha gained enlightenment.
The Buddha arrived on the full moon day of Waso, and just before te closed of the daytime, began to give the hermits the great Dhamma Cekkra sermon which is the Buddha’s first sermon. Many Devas and Brahmas came to hear the sermon.
The day of the Dhamma Cekkra Sermon was Saturday, the full moon day in the month of Waso in the year 103.
